3 Quick Steps to Get Back on Track with Your Wellness Journey
Oh No! – Did I Eat That?
In the 80’s, there was a popular commercial wherein the actor proclaimed, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing…. the whole thing…”
Who here hasn’t had a moment of weakness – a moment where cravings took control and lead you to a temporary eating frenzy? No matter how brief that moment – the feelings of guilt and regret that often accompany that frenzy can sometimes be unbearable. So what do you do? Take these 3 Steps get back on track with your Wellness Journey.
Step 1: BREATH
I mean really breath from the diaphragm. We live so much of our lives in a state of oxygen deprivation that breathing can help us to relax, refocus and reconnect.
Take 5 deep breaths in your nose and out your mouth – focusing only on the rhythm of your breathing. With each inhalation calm your mind and with each exhalation relax your body. This will bring a renewed state of relaxation providing you with greater incite into the actions you take and the reasons why you take them.
Remember – knowledge is power.
Step 2: RECONNECT
That momentary ‘out of control’ act creates the perfect opportunity to reconnect with why you began your Wellness Journey. Reconnect with the motivating reasons you have to change your body and improve your overall health. Write those reasons down and post them where you can see them on a daily basis. Make sure your reasons are specific and compelling. They will help to keep you on track.
Step 3: RESTART
It is crucial that you don’t let one minute pass before committing to restarting your Wellness Journey. The biggest mistake you can make is turning a momentary lapse into a reason to derail all your efforts to change. Remember – you are not defined by a one single moment, so learn from the experience and Re-group – Re-focus and Re-start!
